The agency projects this rule alone will save at least 360 lives every year and prevent at least 24,000 injuries annually once fully in effect.

This mandate builds on an earlier voluntary agreement, where twenty automakers representing more than 99 percent of the U.S. auto market committed to making AEB standard equipment years ahead of any formal regulation.

The Honest Limitations of Advanced Safety Features
